Senior Resource 服务
The senior center serves as a community focal point on Aging for programs and activities that are designed to meet the mental, 情感, 社会, and physical needs for older adults. Group activities and classes is provided to meet the recreational and educational needs and interests.
Improving the lives of Duplin County seniors through opportunities that encourage 社会 interaction, enhance quality of life, and support independence.
Duplin County 服务 for the Aged began operating as a county department in July, 1974, and the congregate nutrition program began in September, 1975. The two programs were consolidated into one department in January, 1979. 服务 for the Aged receives federal and state funds for the Older Americans Act via Eastern Carolina Council Area Agency on Aging and local funds from Duplin County. 5月, 2007, Duplin County 服务 for the Aged and Duplin County Public Transportation were consolidated into one department. In October, 2015, the combined departments were separated to operate as independent departments.
The primary objective of the agency is to serve as an advocate for persons sixty years of age and older by helping them to achieve a better quality of life. Participants must be sixty years of age and older and a resident of Duplin County.

Currently, five congregate nutrition sites operate in Duplin County. One hot meal a day is provided at each site location. The congregate nutrition sites open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 2:30 p.m. In addition to the noontime meal, a site calendar is posted with scheduled activities.

Home Delivered Meals
Volunteers deliver nutritious meals (frozen meals) to the homebound older adults. The frozen meals are delivered each Monday. The Homebound Meal Coordinator daily checks on each participant to complete wellness phone calls. Currently, seven homebound meal routes is established in Duplin County.
The ensure program is available for older adults to purchase ensure to supplement their diet per nutritional needs as prescribed by a physician. Ensure orders are placed once a month.
